Dylan and I met the first day of college in our Journalism class. I came from Texas to Kansas on a volleyball scholarship and he had lived there all his life. I wasn’t looking for a relationship but we seemed to click right away. We talked every single day after that and shortly started dating.
Four and a half years later on Christmas, my sister surprised me with a trip to New York. It was a dream of mine to go so I was beyond excited. Four days into our week-long trip, Dylan surprised me in Central Park and proposed! Right after I said yes, he surprised me with mine and his parents so we could all enjoy the city together for the rest of the time. It was one of the best trips of my life!
Working as a wedding calligrapher I knew I was going to do everything from stationary to signage. I am such a detail person so I knew I wanted all those pieces to shine. When it came to rest of the wedding, we knew we wanted it to be elegant with dusty blue colors with pops of gold and lots of greenery. When we found The Gardens at Madeley Manor, we fell in love and every other detail just fell into place. It worked out so well because it was just down the street from my parents’ house, and it was basically an all-inclusive venue. The venue was vintage and full of history.
My Essence of Australia dress from The Princess Bridal was very simplistic but had a dramatic illusion back which gave it a modern feel. It was a lot more simplistic than I ever imagined wearing but when I put it on the first time, my sister called it “the Vogue dress” and I just fell in love.
My advice to other brides is don’t get too stressed out and over think little things. There will always be something that comes up and you will have to work through it the best you can. In the end, it will still be beautiful because you get to marry your best friend.
